Dr. James Runke has genuinely enjoyed the practice of medicine for the past 32 years — serving disabled patients and subsequently launching Michigan Avenue Immediate Care, which included an Occupational Medicine practice as well.
After attending Northwestern University — obtaining a degree in biomedical engineering — Dr Runke obtained his M.D. degree at the University of Wisconsin — Madison. Dr. Runke then completed a three year internal medicine residency in Chicago, at Weiss Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Illinois Metro program.
Dr Runke has a special interest in hearing impairment, motivated in part by a strong family history of occupationally-induced hearing loss — moderate to severe range. Dr. Runke pursued advanced training as a Hearing Instrument Specialist (also called a Hearing Aid Dispenser) and became licensed in the state of Illinois in 2017.
Dr. Runke is uniquely committed and qualified to serve and assist hearing impaired individuals. His goal is to help improve the quality of life for those experiencing hearing loss, while working in concert with Lead audiologist, Dr. Janaan Moore and fellow Hearing Aid Specialist / Medical Assistant Jamie Runke, ENT Specialist Dr Julian Dixon, and the rest of our physicians and providers and support team.
